Continuing a national effort to engage Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs) in the All of Us Research Program, the Asian Health Coalition is partnering with 20 community-based organizations and two national organizations to form the Asian Engagement and Recruitment Core (ARC).
The National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Research Program is a key element of the Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI) launched by the Obama Administration in 2015. Precision medicine is an approach to tailoring disease prevention and treatment that accounts for genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors in providing targeted medical interventions.
The All of Us Research Program will enroll at least one million people from across the United States to participate in building one of the most diverse biomedical databases in history. This rich information is utilized by researchers to develop and uncover new and targeted ways to treat and prevent disease.
The following organizations have been selected to partner with the
Asian Health Coalition and form the ARC:
- National Tongan American Society (Salt Lake City, UT)

The goal of the ARC is to shape and implement the All of Us Research Program strategy tailored to AANHPI communities and create culturally appropriate, cost-effective, and scalable education and outreach. The Asian Health Coalition will provide training and technical support and lead collaborative efforts among and within the ARC cohort to drive All of Us engagement and participation of AANHPI communities.
“The Asian Engagement and Recruitment Core will help build vital connections with groups nationwide to ensure our participants reflect the cultural diversity of the broader AANHPI community,” said Karriem Watson, D.H.Sc., M.S., M.P.H., chief engagement officer of the All of Us Research Program. “Together, we can create a healthier future for all of us.”
“The ARC partners will continue their vital role to engage and recruit AANHPI communities,” says Fornessa T. Randal, Executive Director of the Asian Health Coalition. “We will build upon the numbers and ensure that our voices and bodies are more fully represented in biomedical research.”
This work is supported by the All of Us Research Program, part of the National Institutes of Health, under award number OT2 OD027077.
